Canucks
Last Game
The
Canucks put in a stellar effort in Camrose on Sunday afternoon to chalk
up a very nice 3-2 win over the Kodiaks. The afternoon started out dismal
as the Kodiaks score in the first minute to take a 1-0 lead. John Dunbar
(Kaushal, Rabbit) silenced the crowd seven minutes later scoring on
a PP for the Canucks to tie it at one each. Great pressure by the Canucks
for the remainder of the first resulted in no change on the score board.
The
teams traded goals in the second period which had the Kodiaks taking
control for much of the 20 minutes. A great effort by Dusty Nickel was
the difference as he stood solidly in net for the Canucks allowing just
one goal in the 19 shots he faced. Kirshan Kaushal (Dunbar, Wynia) scored
for the Canucks, another PP marker to tie it up at 2 each after 40 minutes.
The
third period offered lots of action as the Kodiaks try to cash in on
some PP chances of their own to no avail. Nickel was again solid keeping
the Canucks in it until John Baird (Zanoni, Page) scored the winner
at the midpoint of the period. The Canucks continued with their concentrated
effort, battling through a couple of late period penalties, to perserve
the win. Great win for the Canucks and sets up a return match on Family
Day back at Max Bell. Should be a great game.
Chase
Martin got a shot in net for the Canucks and suffered the loss with
22 saves on 26 shots.
Dusty
Nickel, with a great game, was chosen as the Canucks Game Star.
The
Canucks home schedule continues on Monday February 15, 2010 at 2:30
PM when they play host to the Camrose Kodiaks. Lots of great hockey
action remaining so don't miss it. Great entertainment at incredible
prices. See you at Max Bell.
